About

Since moving from a keen amateur to a fully fledged professional in the early 90’s, I’ve worked with all manner of clients from individuals to small and medium sized companies. I’ve photographed for Health and Education sectors and for large international corporations involved in finance, manufacturing, retail and science plus a whole host of other businesses and professions.

Throughout all of this, the mainstay of all of my work has been photographing people, either individually or in groups, often shooting portraits and regularly taking a more candid and reportage approach.

Whatever the brief has been, over the last 25 years I’ve spent most of my working life joyfully sticking a camera in people’s faces, but more importantly I’ve always recognised that people can be apprehensive about being photographed.

I believe the key to successful people imagery is to understand these natural worries and anxieties. Soft lighting and flattering camera angles only get you so far. Empathy for your subject is so important. I hope one of my strong points comes from the 25 years of experience, always listening to people’s concerns and then reassuring them, helping build their confidence and trust.

I really enjoy working with and photographing people, it’s the part of the job I enjoy the most. There’s nothing better than having a good solid set of images at the end of a day’s photoshoot especially when the people that have been in those images have enjoyed their experience in front of the camera.
